How to host a book fair

Three parts to a great book fair: get your school registered, run and promote your book fair week by week, then close it out. Here's exactly how to do all three.

Step 1 · Get Registered

Register your school

Registration is free and takes about five minutes. One person signs up on behalf of the school and becomes the main point of contact.

Already registered? You're all set here, jump ahead to running and promoting your book fair.

Who should sign up

Usually the librarian, reading coordinator, administrator, teacher, or parent volunteer. You don't have to be an administrator, and you don't need any fundraising experience to run your school's book fair.

Here's how to register your school for the first time.

1

Create your account

Sign up with your school email and a few basic school details.

2

Claim your book fair URL

Choose your school's custom web address. This will be your school's book fair link for every future book fair.

3

Window & flyers

Select the one-week book fair window that fits your calendar and choose how many flyers your school needs.

4

Confirm your details

After registering, you'll receive a confirmation email. Review it to make sure your school information, URL, and book fair window are correct.

Pro Tip

Register by September 1st to receive printed flyers for your book fair.

Step 3 · Close It Out

Close out your book fair

When your window ends, your book fair wraps up almost on its own. Here's what happens in the final stretch, and how to access your portal to close out your book fair.

1

Send the final reminder

Email families a last-call before your window closes. The email graphic is ready to go in the resources section.

2

Your book fair closes itself

At the end of your window the site closes automatically but your admin portal stays open under your admin login.

3

Receive your books

Download your order sheets from the Book Fair Portal. Orders ship straight to your school. Sort your orders and set up a delivery day — make it a fun event!

4

Thank your families

Share your book fair results and thank your families using the wrap-up graphic. Then celebrate a successful book fair!

Key step

Head to your Book Fair Portal

Manage your book fair with the new book fair portal. View your live stats, download your order sheets, and view your school's fundraiser.
